Cyprus Credit Union has an opening for a GL Accountant this position will be responsible for analyzing and reconciling detailed general ledger accounts as assigned.  Keeps records and accounts accurate and current.  Researches and resolves discrepancies and accounting errors.  Completes related reports, summaries, and records used to make financial decisions by Management.  Assists accounting personnel as necessary.




  1. Assumes responsibility for the accurate and timely completion of assigned accounting functions.
  • Assisting with filing quarterly CALL Report and various other quarterly reporting
  • Assisting with annual CPA and regulatory audits
  • Assisting with month end closing entries and reconciliation
  • Involvement with maintaining and creating profitability reports for various department functions
  • Assisting with filing various tax forms and reports
  • Assisting with maintaining fixed asset schedule
  • Assisting with maintenance of the investment portfolio
  • Computes figures and prepares recurring account statements
  • Posts a number of transactions to the appropriate general ledger account
  • Reconciles general ledger accounts and maintains appropriate roll forward schedules as assigned
  • Completes required records and reports and maintains files
  • Completes accounting functions in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  •  Maintains regular contact with other departments to obtain and convey information and/or to correct transactions.
  •  Assists accounting personnel as needed.

  •  Ensures work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
  •  Completes special projects as assigned.




  1. Accounting documents, records, and reports are accurate, current, and timely.


  1. Accounting errors or discrepancies are promptly discovered and resolved (or referred).


  1. Good communication and coordination exists with Company personnel, assistance and support are provided as needed.


  1. Management is appropriately informed of area activities.


  1. Accounting functions are completed in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.





Education/Certification:  Bachelor's degree in either Accounting/Business/ Finance or equivalent combination of related education and experience.


preferred Knowledge:          Knowledge and familiarity with financial statements

                                                           Knowledge of basic accounting concepts and procedures

                                                           Knowledge and experience with account reconciliation and roll forward schedules

                                                                Knowledge of related computer applications

                                                                Proficient in Excel


Experience Required:              3-5 years of accounting experience in Credit Union and/or banking preferred.


Skills/Abilities:                            Well organized and detail oriented.

                                                                Good math skills.

                                                                Good attention to detail and accuracy. 

                                                                Cooperative and willing to assist others.

                                                                Able to use PC, calculator, and other basic business machines.

Average Hearing:                        Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.


Repetitive Motions:                    Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.


Average Visual Abilities:    Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products, or operate machinery.


Physical Strength:                    Sedentary work; sitting most of the time.  Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.  (Almost all office jobs.)

Reasoning Ability:                       Ability to deal with a variety of variables under only limited standardization
